The research group Technology of Chemical and Biochemical Processes of the University of Valladolid (UVA) has a large experience in the biotransformation of renewable carbon resources into high value added products and the development of biotechnological applications for valorization of industrial byproducts and waste. As members of the Sugar Technology Center (University of Valladolid), the group collaborates with the most important sugar companies in Spain, providing technical assistance.
The main objectives of the group are:
- Development of chemical and biochemical processes for industry.
- Valorization of agro-food byproducts, developing cost-effective bioprocesses to transform renewable carbon sources into high value-added products
- Biofuels (bioethanol, butanol) from lignocellulosic biomass, agro-food industry byproducts and microalgae
